Program Overview:

Cape Broyle Head Path is part of the interconnected trail system that is the East Coast Trail. Many folks have referred to the 19km journey between Cape Broyle and Calvert as “a slog”. Though it does require considerable effort, the views from Cape Broyle Head are your reward. It takes an average of 6 – 10 hours to complete the trail to Calvert, but we will be making a side stop to camp at Lance Cove Beach – one of the true jewels of Cape Broyle Harbour. Our campsite is 7.2km from the Cape Broyle trailhead and is the perfect location to set camp and enjoy a lovely dinner. The best times to visit this trail are June through October.

From ECT Association:

This rigorous trail is best suited to prepared and experienced hikers. Be sure to pack appropriate equipment and leave with enough time. The trail is long and hilly with several small stream crossings, and many dramatic coastal and hilltop views. There is a sandy beach at Lance Cove; twisted, colourful rock formations and unusual cliffs; coves; waterfalls; and sea caves and a sea arch. The Ferryland Lighthouse can be seen from atop Cape Broyle Head. Services and facilities are available in Cape Broyle. Limited facilities available in Calvert.
